Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the early 19th century, the Derby porcelain factory produced high-grade soft-paste and bone china tableware favoured by British nobility. The era is recognised for fine hand-painted enamelling, detailed gilding, and neo-classical forms influenced by Regency period taste.

Tureens from this period were crafted from bone china or soft-paste porcelain, painted with mineral-based enamel pigments, and finished with mercury gilding or burnished gold leaf on raised details such as handles and feet.

Authentic items typically feature painted factory marks under the glaze, such as the red or purple crown above a crossed batons and dots motif, along with pattern numbers and evidence of hand-applied gilding.

A porcelain tureen can be displayed as a central decorative object on a dining table, positioned symmetrically on a sideboard, or placed within a glass-fronted display cabinet alongside period glassware.

Gilded porcelain should be dusted gently with a soft dry cloth. If washing is necessary, use lukewarm water and mild dish soap, avoiding abrasive pads, chemical cleaners, or immersion in hot water to protect the gilding.
