Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Old Sheffield Plate refers to a process invented by Thomas Boulsover in 1742, where a layer of silver is fused onto a copper ingot before being rolled into sheets. This technique flourished during the Georgian era until the invention of electroplating in the 1840s.

Wirework baskets were constructed using drawn silver or plated wire arranged in openwork vertical galleries. The rim and bases were formed from sheet metal with applied die-struck borders, often finished with an articulated swing handle.

Authentic pieces frequently display a subtle pinkish copper tone where the silver layer has worn through over time, known as bleeding. They typically feature rubbed-in sterling silver patches for engraved crests and visible solder joints along wire junctions.

An antique silver wirework basket serves as an effective dining table centrepiece, console accent, or sideboard vessel. It can be left empty to showcase its metalwork or filled with fresh fruit, decorative eggs, or seasonal greenery.

Clean gently using warm water and mild dish soap with a soft sponge to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical dips or aggressive rubbing, as excessive polishing can wear away the thin silver layer and expose the copper core beneath.
