This set consists of six cylindrical porcelain cups & saucers, known as ''gobelets litron,'' manufactured at the Sèvres factory in 1846. The exterior of each cup features a central circular cartouche containing the gilded royal monogram of King Louis-Philippe I, an interlaced ''LP'' surmounted by a crown, flanked by hand-painted putti in varied poses. The cartouches are framed by a rich ''Bleu Céleste'' (celestial blue) ground with heavy gilded scrollwork. The upper and lower rims are decorated with a continuous gilded ivy-leaf and vine frieze.The underside of each cup contains three distinct factory marks: a blue ''SV 46'' stamp indicating the Sèvres factory and production year 1846, a green crowned Louis-Philippe monogram, and a red circular ''Château des Tuileries'' inventory stamp.
