Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival furniture produced during the Edwardian period draws design inspiration from Thomas Chippendales 18th-century cabinetmaking. These pieces typically feature pierced back splats, carved crest rails, and elegant cabriole or straight square legs.

These chairs are predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneer, chosen for its rich grain and durability. Traditional joinery includes mortise and tenon joints, frequently reinforced with corner blocks under the seat frame and upholstered drop-in seats.

Look for signs of early 20th-century craftsmanship, such as precise hand-carving alongside machine-planed timber surfaces. Authentic pieces display natural patination, timber shrinkage lines around joints, and aged brass fixings or original webbed seat frames.

Pair a dark mahogany desk chair with a clean-lined modern writing table to create a balanced contrast of eras. Integrating textured textiles or neutral room finishes highlights the intricate carved wood back without overpowering the space.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying and fading. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cloth, following the direction of the grain to nourish the wood finish.
