Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets from circa 1910 often feature neoclassical revival influences, lighter proportions than earlier Victorian designs, refined glazing patterns, and decorative gilt metal mounts or embellishments.

These cabinets were primarily constructed from solid timbers such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring glass panels, brass or gilt-bronze mountings, and often mirrored interior backs.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, such as dovetail joints on drawers, original brass or gilt mounts showing light surface oxidisation, and individual glass panes set into timber glazing bars.

Place an oak cabinet in a living space, dining room, or hallway to display ceramics, glassware, or curated art objects, creating a visual focal point that contrasts with contemporary lines.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft cloth and apply clear beeswax along the wood grain annually, keeping gilt mounts dry and avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners on the glass or metal surfaces.
