George II–III Period Mahogany Tripod Supper Table, c.1760
 
A well-proportioned and attractive Georgian tripod supper table, with good colour, an honest surface and practical everyday usability, presented in complete and original configuration. Dating from around 1760, the table features a circular, single-piece solid mahogany top of good colour and attractive grain, mounted on a traditional box birdcage mechanism with dovetailed corner construction, allowing the top to pivot and tilt. The top is supported on an elegantly turned baluster column, raised on a tripod base with well-shaped cabriole legs terminating in rounded pad feet.
 
Constructed throughout in solid early mahogany of excellent colour and density, this is a strong and original example of the type, displaying pleasing proportions, confident workmanship and an attractive, naturally developed surface.
