A Georgian reverse glass print is an 18th-century decorative artwork produced by transferring a mezzotint or engraving print directly onto the back of a glass sheet and applying hand-painted colours behind the image.

Craftsmen floated paper prints onto water, pressed them face-down onto glass coated with a varnish, and gently rubbed away the paper backing, leaving only the printed ink line work on the glass to be coloured with oil paint.

Authentic pieces display hand-blown glass anomalies such as air bubbles and striations, natural age-related craquelure or flaking in the paint layer, copperplate typography inscriptions, and original period frames with wooden backing boards.

Position the portrait alongside historic or contemporary artwork in a gallery wall arrangement, or mount it individually in a traditional study, hallway, or library setting above dark mahogany or oak accent furniture.
