Knight Fine Antiques and Collectables has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The fall-front writing slope opens to reveal a green leather writing surface and a well-fitted interior, comprising pigeon holes, small drawers, and a central cupboard door, typical of mid-18th century bureau design.
A particularly interesting feature is that the underside of one drawer is lined with original Georgian paper, repurposed from an 18th century handwritten legal deed referencing Wandsworth in south-west London.
It may relate to the original owner or simply material used within the workshop, offering a fascinating historical connection.

The bureau is both practical and decorative, functioning as a useful writing desk when open, while also providing excellent storage when closed, making it well suited to a range of interiors.
