Bushells Antiques has dated this Miniature Gilt Carriage Clock to the 19th Century.

The rectangular gilt brass case is richly engraved with scrolling foliate decoration to every visible surface, giving the piece a luxurious jewel-like appearance. The white enamel dial with Arabic numerals is framed within an engraved surround, while the eight-day movement is housed within the finely detailed case.

An especially desirable feature is the survival of its original leather-covered travelling case with fitted fabric-lined interior and double opening doors, together with two original winding keys — something rarely retained with these miniature examples.

Miniature carriage clocks of this quality and size are increasingly difficult to find, particularly complete with their original case and accessories. A charming and highly collectible object, ideal for a desk, cabinet, or refined clock collection.
