Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian chests of drawers, produced between 1714 and 1830, are defined by classical proportions, high-quality timber construction, and functional design. They frequently feature drawer configurations such as two short drawers over three long drawers, complemented by bracket feet and brass hardware.

Primary timbers typically included solid oak, mahogany, or walnut, often adorned with decorative crossbanding or veneers. Secondary woods like pine or oak were used for drawer linings, constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints.

Authentic Georgian chests feature hand-cut dovetail joints that are uneven in size, hand-planed back panels, and period-correct brass escutcheons and handles. Evidence of hand-saw marks on drawer bottoms and natural wood shrinkage over time also indicate age.

A Georgian chest works as a focal point in a hallway, bedroom, or living space when paired with modern artwork or understated contemporary lighting placed above it. The rich timber tones create visual contrast against neutral or dark paint schemes.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, cracking, or colour fading.
