Description

This is a wonderful oak carved banjo barometer which is fantastic quality. It has been made out of the most superb oak which is a wonderful color and has a fantastic patina. As you can see from the close up photographs there is fantastic depth and exceptional detailing to the shaped of the case. This antique carved oak aneroid banjo barometer and thermometer is a true gem for collectors and enthusiasts of scientific instruments. The piece is Victorian and was crafted in the United Kingdom and the dial is signed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'.

This would be a great addition to any collection of scientific collectables and would make a wonderful display piece.

The top has a superb carving. This leads down to the thermometer box which has a back which is marked with Fahrenheit and Centigrade. On top of this is a thermometer, which is in perfect condition. This is then covered with glass.

Going down to the aneroid barometer, the milk glass dial which is marked with the weather conditions. The dial is signed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. There is also a blued steel finger and brass finger to mark the change in weather.

The bottom of the case is nicely shaped and has superb carved flower detailing.

The carvings on this barometer case are lovely, from the photographs you can see the attention to detail all the way down the barometer.

- 34 1/4 inches (87 cm) high.

- 10 3/4 inches (27 cm) wide.

As you can see from these dimensions the barometer is of lovely grand proportions.

CONDITION: The dial is in perfect condition, as is the glass over the barometer. The barometer is in perfect order and the case is in lovely condition, just minor marks commensurate with age and careful use.
