Description

A really lovely 19th century rosewood - inlaid with mother of pearl - table cabinet. This cabinet has everything. The doors open to reveal three drawers and a dummy drawer. The lid lifts to show a subdivided interior. Under the lid is a comparment for needlework related items. The inside of the lid is edged in gilt tooled burgandy leather and the centre has a pinch pleated red satin. This unclips to show a pocket for stationery. The top of the body of the box has 4 drawers, the top one being a dummy drawer. The last drawer pulls out to reveal a lovely writing slope in tooled leather. When removed from the cabinet, the leather slope opens to double size. The slope has two original glass inkwells. Each drawer is lined in red paper, one maybe for pens and one for jewellery. The main doors to the cabinet are lined in the most intricate gilt tooled leather panels. The cabinet stands on gadrooned bun feet and the sides of the cabinet have ring pulled side handles. It has it's original key. A fine quality piece. Potage or Shipping applies.
