1920s Queen Anne Style Walnut Demi-lune Folding Card Table

1900 - 1920
Description

A 1920s Queen Anne style walnut demi-lune card table of elegant proportions and excellent decorative appeal.

The table is beautifully veneered in richly figured walnut, with striking burr walnut to the top, crossbanded border, and an attractively carved moulded edge. The shaped demi-lune form opens to reveal a full circular playing surface lined in green baize, making it both decorative and highly practical.

Raised on graceful cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, the table features finely carved shell decoration to the knees, a hallmark of the Queen Anne revival style.

Compact in its closed form as a console or occasional table, it transforms into a generous games table when opened, making it an ideal piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne style demi-lune card table features a semi-circular silhouette, delicate cabriole legs often decorated with carved shell motifs, and a hinged fold-over top designed to open into a full surface for table games.

1920s Queen Anne revival pieces typically feature figurative burr walnut veneers applied over solid timber frames, hand-carved details along the knees and rims, and a gate-leg or rear swing-leg mechanism to support the extended table top.

Authentic period and revival pieces feature pad or claw-and-ball feet, pad knees with carved shell details, smooth gate-leg extension hinges, and distinct book-matched walnut veneer patterns on the demi-lune top.

Position the folded demi-lune table flat against a hallway wall or behind a sofa as an elegant console, topped with a table lamp, ceramics, or framed artwork to create a balanced focal point.

Keep walnut veneer furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying and fading, and clean regularly using a soft microfiber cloth and high-grade beeswax polish applied sparingly along the wood grain.
