This elegant mirror is framed in the Empire taste, with fluted gilt columns surmounted by striking Egyptian Revival style female bust capitals, reflecting the fascination with classical antiquity that followed Napoleon’s Egyptian campaigns.
Above the mirror plate sits a delightful hand-painted panel depicting a peaceful rural scene with cattle being driven through a village landscape, adding warmth, narrative charm and decorative interest.
