We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Flemish tapestries from the 16th century were hand-woven pictorial textiles produced primarily in Flanders, which served as the centre of European tapestry production during the Renaissance. These panels depicted historical, biblical, mythological, or allegorical scenes set within detailed landscapes.

Traditional Flemish tapestries were woven on high-warp or low-warp looms using natural fibres, utilizing sturdy wool for the warp threads and a combination of dyed wool and silk yarns for the weft to achieve detailed figurative artwork and rich tonal variation.

Authenticity is evaluated through weave density, hand-spun wool textures, natural dye fading patterns, characteristic weaver marks or town seals near the selvage, and evidence of historical hand-stitched restorations or conservation linings.

A vertical tapestry panel functions as a visual focal point when mounted against a neutral wall backdrop, providing acoustic dampening and architectural scale to both traditional and contemporary interior spaces.

Tapestries should be kept away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat sources, suspended with continuous support across the top edge using Velcro or hanging sleeves, and cleaned using light vacuuming through a protective mesh screen by a specialist conservator.
