Antique Early Lighting Pair Of 17thc Brass Candlesticks. Continental C1670-80.

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A fine pair of early brass candlesticks from the late 17thc....they are of an impressive size, standing on wide circular raised bases, which also act as drip pans to catch the wax...the boldly cast stem has a lower large ''egg shaped '' knop with a smaller shaped knop above, which terminates in the large candle sconce with a round hole and square larger hole to eject the burnt candle out...common in continental candlesticks. The sconce and stem are cast in one and the base cast separately and then joined together by a screw threaded shaft in the stem that screws into the base.....excellent condition with no restoration.

Continental - C1670-80.
