Georgian Period Lancet-top Bracket Clock By The Noted London Makers Desbois & Wheeler Of Gray’s Inn Passage, Dating To Circa 1810–1820.

The substantial mahogany case of elegant Gothic lancet form, richly ornamented with ebony line inlay and geometric stringing, standing on impressive gilt brass paw feet and retaining its original lion-mask carrying handles and Gothic side frets.
The original convex painted Roman dial signed Desbois & Wheeler, Gray’s Inn Passage, retaining its original surface with attractive age-related craquelure, fitted with original style steel hands and strike/silent selection to the arch.
The substantial twin fusee eight-day movement striking the hours on a bell, additionally fitted with pull repeat and engraved backplate signed by the maker. The clock remains in good working order.
A highly decorative and superior quality Regency bracket clock combining refined Gothic architectural design with an excellent original movement and desirable repeat mechanism.

Presented in good antique conditio...n and good working order.
The mahogany case retains a rich colour and pleasing original patina with light age-related wear, small surface marks and minor historic imperfections consistent with period.
Ebony stringing, mouldings, lion-mask handles and gilt brass paw feet all appear original and well preserved.
The original convex painted dial displays characteristic age-related craquelure and minor surface wear consistent with authenticity and age.
The twin fusee movement appears original to the clock and is engraved by the maker. Repeat mechanism and strike/silent selection present. Movement running well at time of posting, though as with all antique clocks, long-term accuracy and servicing intervals cannot be guaranteed .
