Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, silver-mounted glass perfume and cologne bottles were essential accessories for ladies dressing tables and vanity sets. Crafted by skilled glasscutters and silversmiths, these vessels held scented waters and essential oils, serving as functional vanity items and symbols of refined status.

Victorian scent bottles were predominantly constructed from hand-cut lead crystal or tinted glass, paired with sterling silver or silver-plated collars, caps, and stoppers. The silver components were frequently detailed using techniques such as repousse, chasing, and engraving.

Authentic pieces feature British hallmarks stamped on the silver collar or cap, indicating the silver purity, assay office, maker, and date letter. Additionally, genuine nineteenth-century examples display sharp, hand-cut glass facets and properly fitted glass internal stoppers or silver caps.

A Victorian glass cologne bottle can be styled on a mirrored vanity tray, a marble bathroom counter, or a bedside table. Grouping it alongside other antique glass bottles or modern brass trinkets creates a layered, curated aesthetic.

Clean the glass using warm water and mild soap with a soft brush, avoiding full submersion of the silver mounts to prevent moisture trapped beneath the metal. The silver elements should be gently wiped with a silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish without stripping the original patina.
