Arras garden furniture takes its name from the historic town of Arras, in northern France - a centre of ironwork craftsmanship during the 19th century. The Grassin-Baledans Factory, also known as the Arras Foundry, was one of three primary metal product manufacturers in the town and became known for its distinctive, high-end wrought iron garden furniture and artistic ironwork. The designs combined industrial strength with graceful lines - gently curved legs, scrolling details, and, most famously, the distinctive hoof feet

Arras furniture originates from the Usines de Saint-Sauveur factory in Arras, Northern France, which produced distinctive wrought iron and steel outdoor furniture during the nineteenth century. These pieces are characterised by their ergonomic curves, hollow tubular iron construction, and heavy cast metal feet.

Authentic Arras pieces were crafted using a combination of hollow metal tubing or half-round iron slats riveted to sturdy forged iron frames. The construction incorporated rounded edges to prevent snagging clothing, with feet typically cast in iron or brass shaped like hooves or lion paws.
