Magnificent Sheraton Tea Caddy - Inlaid with Clipper Ship C.1780

Description

A quite wonderful antique English tea caddy dating to the late eighteenth century, around 1780.

Made from Mahogany, it is obvious to see what makes this a special and coveted find. The lid is blessed with the most splendid inlaid Clipper ship created from inlaid Satinwood and Harewood. These timbers are carried through into the parquetry panels on four sides.

The box opens to reveal a triple compartment interior with three lids made from Mahogany, trimmed in Boxwood and finished with turned Ivory handles.

A superb and highly collectible gem, in excellent condition, measuring 8" x 5" x 5" tall.
