Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Amethysts have been favoured in fine jewellery making for centuries, achieving particular prominence during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Linear drop configurations were designed to showcase the clarity, faceting, and natural purple hues of matched gemstone sets.

These pieces typically combine natural faceted amethysts with 9ct or 15ct yellow gold settings. The gemstones are commonly held in claw or collet mounts connected by gold jump rings to allow movement.

Authentic period examples often feature hand-cut gemstone facets, period-correct gold hallmarks, and wire-drawn hook or lever-back fittings. The metal settings frequently show hand-crafted claw work and subtle construction variation indicative of historical bench jewelers.

Linear drop earrings provide a vertical accent that complements contemporary eveningwear, high-neck blouses, and open necklines. The deep purple tone pairs effectively with neutral colours such as cream, navy, and charcoal.

Store antique jewellery in a fabric-lined box away from direct sunlight to prevent potential colour fading in natural gemstones. Clean gently using a soft-bristled brush with lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
