English Regency Rosewood Jewelry Box - Cut Brass Inlay C.1820

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A stunning and highly sought-after Jewellery Box dating to the early nineteenth century, the Regency era c.1820.

Made from exotic and very expensive Rosewood, the box is beautifully inlaid with cut foliate brass, the lid also decorated with two tiers of beading, very typical of the period. The central shaped cartouche set into the centre of the lid was originally engraved with a charming name "Eliza".

The interior has been professionally relined in a quality hand marbelled paper, perfectly in keeping creating a very usable clean finish. There is a removable tray too, which has at some time been painted white on the exterior, and again finished with the same paper.

Perfect for a lady or gentleman, as useful as beautiful .. for jewellery, watches, cufflinks, desk paraphernalia or cherished photographs.

Standing on four turned bun feet, the box is in beautiful condition, with a footprint measuring 10" x 7 1/2" and stands approximately 6".

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
