Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Intaglio glass features designs carved or engraved into the surface of the glass, creating a three-dimensional recessed pattern. Manufacturers such as Stevens and Williams produced detailed floral, aquatic, and naturalistic motifs using this copper-wheel technique around the turn of the twentieth century.

Edwardian decanters were typically mouth-blown using high-lead crystal, valued for its weight, clarity, and refractive qualities. Cut, wheel-engraved, or intaglio decoration was manually applied before fitting a ground glass stopper tailored to the specific bottle neck.

Authentic pieces display precision wheel-engraved details, hand-fitted stoppers matching the ground inner neck, and subtle operational wear on the base. While some pieces carry etched maker marks, many fine English manufacturers left items unmarked, relying on distinctive glass quality and decoration.

Displaying a pair of glass decanters on a dark wood sideboard, marble console, or silver tray creates a structured bar arrangement. Incorporating clear glass vessels catches natural light and adds subtle texture to contemporary dining or living spaces.

Hand wash decanters using lukewarm water and mild detergent with a soft brush or flexible sponge. Avoid dishwasher exposure, extreme temperature changes, and storing liquids inside long-term to prevent interior clouding or chemical etching.
