Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tibetan meditation rugs, historically used by monks and spiritual practitioners, are small hand-knotted textiles designed for comfortable seating during practice. They typically feature geometric, floral, or chequerboard motifs woven from local high-altitude wool.

These rugs are hand-knotted using Tibetan wool, which is naturally high in lanolin content. They are traditionally crafted on vertical looms using a distinctive continuous-loop knotting technique over a metal rod, often constructed in narrow panels that are sewn together.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted wool pile, natural dye variations known as abrash, and visible hand-stitched seams where narrow woven strips are joined. The pile feels thick and dense, with a flexible wool or cotton warp and weft foundation.

A small Tibetan rug can be styled as a bedside accent, an entryway mat, or displayed on a wall as a decorative textile art piece. The bold geometric patterns contrast well with neutral timber furniture and contemporary minimalist decor.

Vacuum gently without a rotating beater bar to avoid pulling the hand-knotted fibres. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth and cold water, and rely on professional rug restorers for periodic specialist cleaning.
