An exceptional Victorian solid silver wine cooler by Robinson Edkins & Aston, dated 1839. This beautifully ornate piece features detailed leaf decoration around the rim, an elegant lattice design showcasing the ruby glass liner, and richly decorated fruit and foliage motifs beneath.
The silver alone weighs 1,400 grams, with a total weight of 2,616 grams including the ruby glass bowl.
Dimensions:
Height: 27 cm
Glass bowl diameter: 17.5 cm
Wine cooler rim diameter: 23 cm
Base diameter: 14 cm
A striking collector’s piece, perfect for a grand display cabinet or as a centrepiece. Remarkably well preserved for nearly 190 years old.
Both cartouches are blank, and the hallmarks are clearly visible on the base, centre, and cartouches, with only slight rubbing to one mark. The ruby glass liner is believed to be a later replacement, though it is a superb quality thick glass piece.
