Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Patented in the late 19th century, safety-stand rocking horses utilize a stationary timber frame and iron swing brackets to rock the carved horse, replacing earlier curved bow rockers to improve stability and save floor space.

These pieces were typically hand-carved from softwoods such as pine or lime, painted with realistic dappled finishes, and fitted with genuine horsehair manes and tails along with natural leather saddlery and brass hardware.

Key identification markers include a distinct turned pillar design on the stand, detailed jaw and muscle carving, fixed or removable gesso-painted bodies, glass eyes, and signature bracket shapes supporting the iron swing arms.

A floor-standing rocking horse functions as a focal sculptural item in wide hallway spaces, empty drawing room corners, bay windows, or traditional childrens rooms alongside period timber furniture.

To preserve original paintwork and timber, store the piece away from direct heat sources and damp environments, dust gently with a soft dry brush, and apply specialist hide conditioner to original leather saddlery.
