Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Spanish furniture from the 19th century often combines traditional Iberian woodworking techniques with regional utility. Characterised by sturdy hardwoods like walnut, robust stretchers, and understated geometric forms, these pieces emphasise functional durability alongside natural timber patination.

Craftsmen typically utilised locally sourced solid walnut, oak, or chestnut. Construction relied on hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, planked table tops, corner aprons for reinforcement, and perimeter stretchers near the base for structural rigidity.

Authentic period examples exhibit signs of hand-planing, irregular wear patterns across the timber grain, historic joinery with wooden pegs, and natural oxidisation on underside surfaces. Original iron or wooden fixings and aged surface patination further indicate authenticity.

Position the table centrally in an entrance foyer, hallway, or open-plan living room to serve as an architectural anchor. Pair its rustic timber texture against neutral wall finishes, stone floors, or contemporary minimalist decor to create visual contrast.

Maintain timber health by applying a high-grade beeswax paste twice yearly and buffing with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid placing the table near direct heat sources or in fluctuating humidity, and clean liquid spills immediately with a soft cloth.
