A Magnificent Dore Bronze Fender, E F Caldwell New York C1900 1.96 Cm Length

Description

A truly magnificent Dore Bronze country house fender of large proportions. Attributed to E F Caldwell New York . Beautiful cast with central 2 handled urn with rams heads, flanked by 2 female winged Sphinx followed by a swan at each end. Scolling leaves and flowers with husks of wheat between.

Length 1.96 cm (6ft 6 ins) x 48 cm h (19inches) In really good condition, rubbing to the gilding consistent with age.

This came from a large country estate in Derbyshire.

Caldwell supplied only the best. Clients included the Rockefellers, the Carnegies, and the Roosevelts.

The company was also commissioned for famous landmarks such as the White House, the Grand Central Terminal, Radio City Music Hall, and the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

A similar Fender has just sold for £28,000.00
