Antique Early Oak Country Furniture 18thc Welsh Cwpwrdd Tridarn. North Wales C1730-40.

I really love this sort of furniture....it has the most amazing colour that you nearly always find on these Welsh early pieces...it is almost the colour of claret....known as a rich ''ox-blood'' colour.....it is a traditional Welsh three-piece oak cupboard called a Cwpwrdd tridarn....tri being Welsh for three and darn being Welsh for piece or part....used primarily for storing and displaying household goods in farmhouse living rooms or kitchens.....it is a perfect small size to suit any home and you just have to admire the skill of the furniture maker...a real craftsman...such an attractive piece with the top tier having asymmetrical wavy slats, behind both turned columns and turned pendants...it also has a centre ogee arched panel flanked by two square cupboard doors with deep moulded panel fronts...the base has three well made substantial drawers above two large cupboards....this beautiful period cupboard was probably made in the Snowdonia area of North Wales and is in very good orig...
