Antique Early Oak Country Furniture 18thc Welsh Cwpwrdd Tridarn. North Wales C1730-40.

18th century
Description

I really love this sort of furniture....it has the most amazing colour that you nearly always find on these Welsh early pieces...it is almost the colour of claret....known as a rich "ox-blood" colour.....it is a traditional Welsh three-piece oak cupboard called a Cwpwrdd tridarn....tri being Welsh for three and darn being Welsh for piece or part....used primarily for storing and displaying household goods in farmhouse living rooms or kitchens.....it is a perfect small size to suit any home and you just have to admire the skill of the furniture maker...a real craftsman...such an attractive piece with the top tier having asymmetrical wavy slats, behind both turned columns and turned pendants...it also has a centre ogee arched panel flanked by two square cupboard doors with deep moulded panel fronts...the base has three well made substantial drawers above two large cupboards....this beautiful period cupboard was probably made in the Snowdonia area of North Wales and is in very good original condition. Welsh. C1730-40.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
