19th Century Rosewood Console Table with Concave Legs

19th century
Description

Very decorative 19th century English rosewood console table with fabulous concave front legs and square tapered legs to the back.

Great size for a hall but also in a living or dining room for use as a server, display or drinks table perhaps.

Very good book matched rosewood veneer to the table top and a fabulous rich colour throughout.

The concave legs are wonderful, giving the table a Regency feel but also would absolutely work in a more Art Deco environment too.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A demilune console table features a semi-circular top designed to sit flush against a wall, widely produced during the Regency and Victorian eras for placement in entry halls and reception rooms.

These tables were commonly constructed using dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or walnut, featuring veneered aprons, hand-cut joinery, and solid timber legs.

Authentic pieces display distinct grain patterns characteristic of natural rosewood species, hand-sawn timber markings on unpolished undersides, and natural surface wear along contact points.

Position the table in an entryway or corridor paired with a wall mirror above the surface and minimal decorative ceramics on top to maintain clear lines.

Position the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent drying or split formation, dusting regularly with a lint-free cloth and applying beeswax sparingly.
