Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late 19th century, Vietnamese artisans produced elaborate inlaid hardwood furniture both for local nobility and for export to European markets. These pieces combined traditional East Asian inlay techniques with decorative forms such as pedestal centre tables and tilt-top display tables.

These tables are traditionally constructed from dense native tropical hardwoods, such as rosewood or ebony, which provide a dark background. The ornamentation consists of hand-cut shell, primarily mother-of-pearl or nacre, precisely fitted into recessed carvings.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved joinery, subtle variations in the hand-cut shell pieces, and natural surface wear or patina on the hardwood. The underside of the tabletop and inner frame often show historic hand-saw marks and unvarnished timber.

A circular inlaid centre table works well as an accent piece in a formal entrance hall, foyer, or living room corner. Pairing dark ornamental furniture with minimalist contemporary seating creates a balanced contrast between historic detail and modern lines.

Keep the furniture in a climate-controlled environment away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from shrinking and loosening the inlay. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth and apply microcrystalline wax occasionally to protect the wood surface.
