Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts metalwork from the late 19th and early 20th centuries emphasised handcraftsmanship, structural integrity, and organic form over mass production. Craftsmen favoured copper for its warm colour and malleability, applying stylized natural motifs such as water lilies or seed pods.

Vessels from this period were typically formed from sheet copper through hand-hammering or machine-stamping techniques. Component parts such as handles, thumbpieces, and hinged lids were attached using soft solder or copper rivets, with repousse or embossed decoration pressed into the metal surface.

Authentic pieces often feature maker marks stamped on the base, such as registered design numbers or trade logos. Period items display characteristic hand-finishing marks, aged solder joints, soft surface wear, and a natural patination that cannot be artificially replicated.

Graduated metalware sets create visual balance when arranged in a group of three on a rustic sideboard, open kitchen shelving, or a stone mantelpiece. The warm copper tone contrasts effectively against timber backgrounds, dark paint palettes, and neutral stone surfaces.

Dust copper vessels regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove surface dirt. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive metal polishes, which can erode embossed relief details and alter the desirable natural oxidisation accrued over time.
