McTague of Harrogate has dated this Herbert Dicksee Original Etching to the 1900s.
Herbert went on to study at the Slade School of Art in London on a scholarship, and his first painting was exhibited in 1881. Many of Dicksee’s most famous works were transcribed into prints and etchings published by Klackner of London. He died on February 20, 1942 in Hampstead, England.
"Against the Wind and Open Sky" is a fine example of the first state artist's proof etching. It is signed in pencil and measures 10"x 22" and is framed giving an overall size of 17"x 28".
