Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A club fender is a low metallic surround topped with padded corner seats, designed to encircle a fireplace hearth. Popularised during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, they provided additional seating while serving as a safety guard around open fires in gentlemens clubs and country houses.

Edwardian club fenders were predominantly constructed from solid brass or wrought iron, featuring vertical tubular rails or upright supports. The corner seats were typically upholstered in deep-buttoned leather or heavy horsehair-stuffed fabrics with brass stud detailing.

Authentic Edwardian examples display hand-fitted brass tubular supports, cast brass base sections with telescoping or jointed adjustments, and natural wear or patination on original leather upholstery. Modern reproductions usually feature lighter gauge metal, uniform machine welding, and synthetic leather substitute materials.

Position the fender surrounding a functional or decorative fireplace hearth to frame the fireplace area. It functions as compact occasional seating in a living room, study, or library while introducing warm metallic tones and traditional texture.

Maintain brass components by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and using specialized brass cleaner sparingly to preserve desired patina. Clean and condition the leather upholstery with dedicated leather balm to prevent drying and cracking.
