Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bedsteads from the 1930s Art Deco era typically emphasize clean geometric forms, soft rounded corners, and book-matched wood veneers. Designers prioritized the natural grain pattern of light-toned woods, often framed with subtle contrast banding or inlaid lines.

Cabinetmakers frequently used figured cuts of walnut, satinwood, maple, and burr timbers. These blonde and light-coloured woods allowed decorative grain patterns to take centre stage without heavy carving.

Authentic pieces feature thin cut timber veneers laid over solid wood or early blockboard cores, original joinery methods, and characteristic curved profiles. The finish typically displays age-appropriate patination rather than modern high-gloss polyurethane lacquers.

Position the bed against a textured accent wall or pair it with crisp linen bedding to complement the warmth of the satinwood veneer. Neutral palettes and simple contemporary side tables allow the geometric grain work of the headboard to remain the primary focal point.

Keep veneered timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid drying or lifting. Clean regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically along the grain to protect the timber surface.
