Pair of mid 19th century oak bookcases, effectively a matched pair, each with a raised gallery back featuring detailed floral carving. The carcasses have stopped reeding, repeated on the gallery uprights. Each bookcase is fitted with four adjustable shelves using brass bookcase studs. The shelves are unusually thick at 1 inch, with a moulded hinged lip to the front allowing adjustment for taller books. The internal shelf space measures 73 cm high by 83 cm wide. The pair stand on bun feet with carved ears between. Good overall condition with age-related wear. Structurally sound.
