An impressive 18thc delftware charger of a large size, being 13.25 ins in diameter....it would have come from a large country house and be used primarily for decoration and added elegance during weddings, holiday gatherings, and formal dinners, rather than holding food directly.....it is in very good condition with vibrant colours and a pleasing tint of blue to the tin glaze.....delftware pottery was produced by several factories in and around Bristol, primarily based in Brislington St Anne’s C1652 – C1743 and later along the Redcliff Backs (Temple Back) area in the city centre from the early 18thc until 1785.
English / Bristol. C1760-80.
