Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A treen shuttle snuff box is a small wooden container shaped like a weavers shuttle, designed to store powdered tobacco. Produced primarily during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, these items represent traditional folk craftsmanship and functional treenware.

Craftsmen typically used dense native hardwoods such as fruitwood, boxwood, walnut, or oak. Decorative accents often incorporated natural materials such as bone, horn, ivory, or mother-of-pearl for inlays, catches, and escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces show natural surface wear, patination from handling, and tight-fitting wood joinery. Hand-carved elements, period-appropriate hinges, flush inlay work, and subtle shrinkage in the timber over time are key indicators of age.

These small tactile objects are suited to styling on a gentlemans library desk, within a glass display cabinet, or arranged alongside hardback books on a shelf. Their warm timber tones add texture and historical character to contemporary spaces.

Keep the item in a stable environment away from direct sunlight, dampness, and strong heat sources to prevent wood movement. Clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a thin coat of natural beeswax sparingly to protect the timber surface.
