Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A carver chair is a decorative dining or accent chair featuring armrests, designed to sit at the head of a formal table or serve as an individual armchair. Styled after 18th-century Chippendale and Georgian traditions, these chairs frequently display intricate hand-carved back splats, curved arms, and supportive leg stretchers.

High-grade dense mahogany or walnut form the primary frame due to their durability and fine grain suitability for detailed carving. Upholstered drop-in or fixed seats traditionally use wool tapestry, damask, or woven jacquard fabrics over horsehair and spring stuffing.

Authentic period pieces exhibit precise hand-cut joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, natural age oxidation on unfurnished underside timbers, and crisp hand-carved detail along the splat and arm terminals. Stamped maker marks or numbered brass castors on the frame legs also signal original cabinetmaker production.

A single mahogany carver chair functions effectively as a standalone desk seat in a study, an accent piece in a hallway, or paired alongside modern minimalist furniture to provide visual contrast through rich wood grain and decorative carving.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original patina. Keep upholstery out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading and address fabric spills immediately using specialized textile cleaners.
