We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver mustard pots are dining accessories designed to hold condiment pastes, popularised in nineteenth-century Britain when mustard became an essential table accompaniment. They typically feature openwork metal casing to showcase removable coloured glass liners.

These items were predominantly crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, often featuring pierced fretwork. Removable cobalt blue glass liners were fitted inside to protect the metal from chemical corrosion caused by the acidic nature of mustard.

Authentic British silver from the Victorian era features official hallmark stamps, including a lion passant for sterling quality, a monarch duty mark, an assay office mark, and a maker mark. The physical weight, hand-engraved details, and precise fit of the glass liner also indicate genuine period construction.

Small silver hollowware pieces function as decorative accent objects on sideboard trays, dining tables, or curated shelves. Combining silver metalwork with contemporary tableware or dark timber surfaces creates an appealing visual contrast between historic metalwork and modern decor.

The glass liner should be removed and washed separately using warm water and mild liquid detergent. Clean the silver exterior using a soft, non-abrasive cloth and a specialized silver polish, avoiding heavy pressure on delicate pierced lattice details or hand engraving.
