Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian satinwood furniture is characterised by fine graining, a warm golden colour, and decorative embellishments such as marquetry inlay or painted motifs. Heavily influenced by 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite revivals, these pieces feature clean neoclassical lines and precise cabinetmaking.

Victorian collectors cabinets were typically constructed using solid timber frameworks veneered with exotic woods like satinwood or mahogany. They incorporated hand-cut dovetail joints, brass fittings, and astragal glazed glass doors to protect and display small curiosities or geological specimens.

Authentic late Victorian pieces display hand-set marquetry or stringing using natural wood veneers, subtle imperfections from manual construction, and period-correct hardware such as cast brass handles and locks. The wood patina usually shows genuine darkening and age, particularly along edges and handles.

A small collectors cabinet can serve as a focal display piece in a study or hallway, housing books, glassware, or curated art objects. Its warm timber tones contrast effectively against neutral paint palettes or dark, moody feature walls.

Keep satinwood furniture away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood shrinkage and fading. Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a light coat of beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year.
