A gorgeous first period Worcester porcelain fluted tea bowl and saucer with a stunning delicate pale turquoise enamel border, reserving a white guilloche pattern band, carefully edged with black enamel. The gilt edges sandwiching the frieze are also framed with a fine black enamel line creating a very striking effect. Finished with a gilt band above the foot, a ring to the centre of the saucer, and the bowl has a gilt dentil border to the inside of the rim. c.1770.
The tea bowl measures 8cm (3 1/8'') wide and 4.7cm (1 7/8'') high and the saucer measures 13.5cm (5 1/4'') wide, and 3cm (1 1/8'') high.
Condition is excellent with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. There is a very minor workman''s fault where one of the inner loops of the guilloche band on the saucer was not filled with the turquoise enamel, a very rare mistake from the usually impeccable decorators!
