In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

First Period Worcester porcelain refers to wares produced by the Worcester Tonquin Manufacture between 1751 and 1783, often associated with founder Dr John Wall. These pieces are noted for their soaprock-formula soft-paste porcelain body, which resisted cracking when filled with boiling water.

Eighteenth-century Worcester porcelain utilised a soft-paste body incorporating steatite (soapstone) sourced from Cornwall. The decoration often combined underglaze cobalt blue patterns with hand-painted polychrome enamel details and gilded accents applied over the glaze.

Authentic pieces typically feature a greenish or greyish tint when held to light due to the soaprock body, along with characteristic workmans marks, fretted squares, or crescent marks on the underside. Glaze shrinkage around the foot rim and precise hand-painted enamelling are additional indicators.

Single antique porcelain cups make understated decorative accents when displayed on open shelving, integrated into glass-fronted cabinets, or grouped with contemporary ceramics on a sideboard top.

Clean delicate hand-painted porcelain gently using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding abrasive sponges or chemical cleansers that can wear away overglaze enamels and gilding. Never place historical ceramics in a dishwasher.
