Good Quality Georgian Revival Mahogany Server

19th century
Description

A Good Quality Georgian Revival Mahogany Server

Of impressive breakfront form and fine craftsmanship, this Georgian Revival mahogany server is raised upon boldly carved and shaped front legs, with plainer rear supports terminating in block feet, providing both strength and visual balance.

The frieze is fitted with three oak-lined drawers, each decorated with lunette carving and retaining original brass plate handles, complemented by finely carved mouldings. The top is of particularly attractive figured mahogany, displaying rich colour and well-defined grain.

Notably, the locks are stamped by Hobbs & Co. of London, a respected maker, adding an additional point of interest and authenticity.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian Revival furniture refers to pieces crafted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that recreate the symmetrical proportions, delicate carving, and rich timber choices typical of 18th-century British design.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often featuring solid brass hardware, hand-carved decorative motifs, and dovetailed drawer joinery.

Authentic Georgian Revival items display late 19th- or early 20th-century construction methods, such as uniform machine dovetailing or modern screw threads, alongside historic proportions and hand-carved decorative details.

A mahogany server functions well as a focal point in a hallway, dining room, or behind a sofa, paired with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or a large mirror above.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish twice a year to preserve the wood finish, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources.
