The provenance of this rather imposing chair is unknown, however the simple cartouche-shaped back and prominent turned front stretcher are American characteristics.

Condition: The frame is tight and sound, the paint/stain probably later. One back leg re-tipped, cane work coming adrift slightly from the front rail, see images
