Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Traditional equestrian oil paintings emerged as a major genre in British fine art during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, focusing on depicting horses with anatomical accuracy to record bloodlines, ownership, or sporting achievements.

Artists in the early twentieth century applied oil pigments bound with linseed oil onto stretched canvas or wooden panels, typically prepared with a gesso priming coat.

Authentic period pieces display natural surface craquelure, age discolouration on the reverse of the canvas, historic stretcher construction, and original signatures or dates.

An equestrian portrait can be styled above a mantelpiece, console table, or within a gallery wall to introduce texture, historical interest, and warm neutral tones to contemporary interiors.

Maintain oil paintings by hanging them away from direct sunlight, open flames, and high moisture, while dusting the surface lightly with a dry, soft brush rather than liquid cleaners.
