Unusually small French Louis Philippe mahogany commode or chest of drawers c.1840. Just 32½'' wide. Original black slate top with rounded front corners over a chest of four drawers. Shallower top drawer with a shaped front continued on the cabinet sides. Attractively figured and symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers across the drawer fronts, with inlaid brass escutcheons. Mahogany veneered sides and raised on a moulded plinth. Some small chips to the edges of the marble and repairs to the veneers. Generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
