Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Tyrolean painted wardrobe is a traditional softwood storage cupboard originating from the Alpine region of Tyrol, crafted predominantly during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These cupboards often feature regional folk art painted decorations, decorative panelling, and personalized inscriptions including family names or dates.

These wardrobes were typically constructed from local softwoods such as pine or spruce using peg joinery and panelled frame construction. The exterior surfaces feature hand-painted pigments forming floral or vase motifs, accompanied by hand-forged iron escutcheons and door hinges.

Authentic pieces display natural surface wear, historic hand-inscribed dates or names near the cornice, hand-cut dovetail or peg joinery, and genuine aged patina on both the pine finish and the hand-painted motifs.

A painted pine armoire functions as a focal storage piece in an entryway, bedroom, or living area. It pairs effectively with natural linen textiles, neutral wall palettes, and complementary rustic timber furnishings.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and keep the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement or shrinkage. Avoid applying harsh liquid cleaners, wax polishes, or solvents that could damage the original hand-painted detailing.
