Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A torba is a small, rectangular storage bag traditionally handwoven by nomadic Turkmen tribes, particularly the Tekke clan of Central Asia. Suspended inside tent dwellings (yurts), these bags held personal belongings and domestic utensils, combining functional storage with decorative tribal craftsmanship.

Authentic Turkmen torbas were woven primarily from hand-spun sheeps wool using asymmetric knots on a wool warp and weft. Natural vegetable and insect dyes created the distinctive colour palette, dominated by deep madder reds, cochineal pinks, indigo blues, and natural un-dyed ivory tones.

Authentic period pieces feature supple hand-spun wool, subtle variations in natural dye tones (abrash), and precise knot counts. Late 19th-century examples display traditional tribal motifs such as the curled leaf or gul design without the harsh synthetic dyes that became prevalent in later commercial production.

A preserved torba face functions as a striking textile wall hanging, mounted on a display board or custom frame to showcase its detailed geometry. Its rich tones and organic fringe texture introduce depth to contemporary minimalist spaces, bohemian interiors, or classic eclectic wall displays.

Antique wool weavings should be displayed away from direct sunlight to prevent dye fading and kept in climate-controlled environments. Surface dust can be removed gently using a low-suction vacuum with a mesh screen, and professional conservation washing should be performed only by textile specialists.
